Bob Thompson from the National Weather Service office in Taunton has sent us a notice that there may be some flooding in low lying areas on Thursday morning.  The predicted tide heights are a little lower than the mean (average) tide heights, however, there is a potential for a 2 to 2.5 foot storm surge along the Rhode Island shoreline.  The combination of storm surge, moderate to high wave energy, and stormwater runoff from the land due to the high precipitation may cause some minor flooding and erosion.  Even if the combined tide and surge does not cause flooding, photos provide good information for understanding future events.  Important:  Please DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN HARMS WAY!

The predicted high tide for Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 are:

High Tide:
Newport: 9:23 AM
Weekapaugh: 9:45 AM

Winnapaug Pond: 2.5 to 3 hours later than Newport high tide
Quonchontaug Pond: 2 to 2.5 hours later than Newport high tide
Ninigret Pond: 2.5 to 3 hours later than Newport high tide
Green Hill Pond: 4 to 5 hours later than Newport high tide
